Canadian Process Control Association to Join Measurement, Control & Automation Association
Expanding Opportunities, Resources and Industry Connections for Members
Dear Members and Industry Partners,
The Canadian Process Control Association (CPCA) is pleased to announce an exciting new chapter for the Association and its members through the future integration of CPCA member services and activities with the Measurement, Control & Automation Association (MCAA).
This strategic transition represents an important step forward in strengthening long-term member value while expanding access to broader industry resources, connections, and support across North America.
The special resolution supporting this transition was unanimously approved by members during the 2026 Annual General Meeting held on May 6, 2026.
Following a comprehensive strategic review, the CPCA Board of Directors carefully evaluated the Association’s long-term sustainability, operational capacity, and opportunities to continue delivering meaningful value in an evolving industry environment. The partnership with MCAA emerged as a strong path forward for members and the industry community.
What This Means for Members
Through this transition, members will benefit from:
• Expanded North American industry connections
• Enhanced training and technical resources
• Continued access to industry reporting and programming
• Greater long-term sustainability and operational support
• Continued focus on Canadian member priorities and engagement
“We are excited to welcome you to MCAA and look forward to working together,” says Teresa Sebring, President of MCAA.
“The team and I are pleased to have you joining us and look forward to supporting you through this membership transition. Our goal is to make this transition as smooth and efficient as possible while ensuring you have everything needed to get started successfully.”
Over the coming weeks, members will receive additional information regarding onboarding, access to resources, programming opportunities, and member benefits available through MCAA. The transition is expected to be finalized effective June 30, 2026.

26/01/22 CPCA’s success starts with its members. We are proud to highlight individuals who help shape and strengthen our community. This month, we are shining a spotlight on Matthew Smith, President of Winters Instruments, in a Member Q&A Profile. A CPCA member for six years, we asked Smith about his professional growth, corporate achievements and trends in the process control sector. Smith notes the process control industry in Canada faces several key challenges, including ongoing trade and tariff pressures with the US, the pace of technological advancement and rising cost pressures for materials. "Now more than ever, the process controls industry is being driven to innovate, streamline operations and adopt new technologies to remain resilient and competitive in the future." For Smith, "Overcoming challenges will hinge on the biggest challenge of all – finding the right people. Attracting, developing, and retaining skilled talent will be critical to driving innovation, maintaining competitiveness, and ensuring the industry can successfully navigate the changes ahead." Smith says he became a CPCA member as soon as he joined Winters, "because I believe it is a strong voice for like-minded members to pursue common goals which advance our collective interests in the industry. This unified voice has demonstrated its impact on many occasions, such as streamlining the CRN approval process." |
